There may be some value in the fact that most people, in most cultures, at most periods in history have had some belief in a God. But how do you respond to claims that this de facto state of belief is just an early point in the process of human development which is slowly eroded by the increased education and rationality of humans? Yes we can point to the explosion of religion in the developing world, but I've heard the condescending argument that these cultures are just further behind on the rational-development scale. |
