| Er . . . so, unlike the ‘arrogant’ Dawkins who wilfully ignores the most sophisticated theologians and Christian philosophers, Ruse explains his own rejection of Christianity like this: (1) “for whatever reason, my belief sort of faded away and never returned, a little bit like stamp-collecting . . . Christianity just . . . just went.” (2) “I have had one headmaster in this life, I don’t need another one in the next” (i.e. “my non-existent God has always been a bit of a Presbyterian”)! Hmm. I wonder whether, rather than falling over yourselves to applaud Ruse for his ‘friendliness’, you might have gently suggested to him that his critique of Dawkins might be perceived along the lines of “pot”, “kettle”, and “black”. Cheers, Anon. | |
