Dr Greg Clarke

Dr Greg Clarke is co-founder and Director (with John Dickson) of the Centre for Public Christianity. His doctorate is in literature, with special interest in how theology is discussed in the arts and humanities. Greg has written books and studies on topics ranging from the Bible to sex to The Da Vinci Code to the end of the world.  He is author of over 200 articles and reviews in publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, Southerly, kategoria, Books and Culture (US) and onlineopinion.com.au. Greg splits his time between writing, academic work and public lecturing, and is primarily interested in talking about the importance of Christianity for understanding the meaning of life.Greg is married to Amelia and they live in Botany in Sydney’s south-east with their three children.


 

 Dr John Dickson

Dr John Dickson is
co-founder and Director (with Greg Clarke) of the Centre for Public Christianity. He wears many hats—musician, academic, author and public speaker. After a career as a singer-songwriter he turned to study, completing degrees in theology and in ancient history. His doctoral thesis on the rise of Christianity in its Jewish and Graeco-Roman contexts has been published by MohrSiebeck (Germany). Having worked as an Anglican minister, he is now a Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia). His book The Christ Files has been made into a full-scale TV documentary and DVD on the historical sources for Jesus of Nazareth. He is a busy public speaker in both popular and academic contexts. John values his family role above all others. He lives in Sydney with his wife and three children.

 

Simon Smart

Head of Research and Communications for CPX. A former English and History teacher Simon has since completed a Masters in Christian Studies at Regent College, Canada. He has years of experience writing and editing both academic curricula and popular books. He is the author of Bright Lights Dark Nights - the enduring faith of 13 remarkable Australians. He was the controlling editor of A Spectator’s Guide to World Views. His role at CPX involves research, website content and liaising with our network of scholars.


 

Vaughan Olliffe

Business Manager of CPX. With years of experience managing small businesses, his focus at the Centre is on administration, event planning and website operations.

Hugh Clark

Hugh is the Centre’s media producer.
He is responsible for the filming and editing of studio interviews and pieces to camera along with the CPX podcast.
