Well I’m attracted to religion by the beauty of it. I mean, there’s no question about that – and the fact that its aesthetics and my literary aesthetics merge, there’s nothing accidental about that. I’m glad that I am predisposed to making the case for the beauty of religious thought, Christian thought, because there’s a great deal now in the culture that would make it appear very unattractive – and, in fact, I think, makes it quite repulsive to many people.
